Scott snickered at Jazz’s grossed-out expression and cuffed him on the back of the head. “Be nice.”

It wasn’t as if George needed his protection from teenage jibing, however. George had more than shown that he was capable of dealing with smartasses by putting up with Ozzy and the others and even giving as good as he got.

He glanced to the side then completely forgot what he was thinking about as he saw the look of hungry longing on George’s face. And as much as he knew that the hunger was for the steak on the grill behind him, if his little brother hadn’t been in the room, he would have stripped naked and begged to be whatever George wanted.

“George?” Saying his name was as much to get the man’s attention as it was to focus his own on the here and now and not his very vivid imagination. George’s eyes were wide and he was sure it was a trick of light, but it appeared as if there were hundreds of tiny reflections staring back at him like black diamonds glinting in the sun.

In a word, it was mesmerizing, and Scott couldn’t look away as George’s powerful gaze rose to meet his. He was reasonably certain that someone could have set off a gun and he wouldn’t have noticed.

“I’m outta here before you two start humping on the counter. Leave me a steak.” Jazz snorted with amusement when no one looked his way.

Scott finally managed to drag his attention away from George in time to see Jazz heading out.

“Hey, Jazz?”

His little brother stopped in the doorway that led to the main living area that they were currently using as Jazz’s room. Scott had the office upstairs as his room, with a bed in it since it was the only other livable space in the house right now until they got started on the renovations and rebuilding.

“Yeah?”

“Thanks. I’ll come see you later.” Scott tried to convey how much it meant to him that Jazz had treated George as if he were one of the family and hadn’t made a big deal about Scott bringing him here. Normally, Jazz was very quiet and reserved around strangers, and Scott knew it must have taken a lot of conscious effort to appear relaxed in George’s company.

Jazz’s smile lit up the room, and his cheeks darkened with pink as he nodded.

A moan to his left made him turn away as Jazz left. He looked beside him to find George holding the barely cooked steak, taking big bites out of the chargrilled, caramelized flesh. A trickle of juice ran from the side of George’s mouth and dripped onto his shirt.

It should have repulsed him, really, the sight of George ripping into the steak with his teeth like some kind of caveman. But it only made Scott wonder if George would be that enthusiastic about having something else in his mouth.

Groaning at the images that train of thought conjured, Scott readjusted himself as his pants grew uncomfortably tight in a certain area.
